Automotive

Swiss supplier and manufacturer of machined and turned parts for the automotive sector

As a precision turned parts manufacturer of high volume runs of automotive parts, we particularly focus on micro-motor shafts designed for instrument panels, injection or air-conditioning systems. As we are certified according to IATF 16949 – the standard specific to the automotive industry – we are able to meet the most stringent demands in terms of quality and lead times.

Technology is constantly evolving in the automotive industry and manufacturers need suppliers who can offer products which deliver in terms of their reliability and performance. Based on the IATF 16949 standard, our extensive expertise in high-precision turned parts and machining for the automotive sector means that we can guarantee turned workpieces which comply with the strictest requirements.

Our skills

The most common operations listed below can be performed on our turning machines during the same cycle as machining of automotive parts:

  • milling
  • drilling
  • knurling
  • bending

To achieve certain technical specificities, other operations and/or treatments may be performed as a secondary operation:

  • tempering and hardening
  • polishing or chemical polishing
  • "frosting"
  • sand-/ micro-blasting
  • galvanic treatments: nickel plating, tin plating

We are experts in polishing and "frosting". For this latter process, which is exclusive to Polydec, we have developed our own in-house automatic finishing machines. Other operations are carried out by local certified partners.

Exigence du zéro défaut (0 ppm)
In the automotive industry, the 0 ppm target (zero defects parts per million) is an essential criterion for mass production of turned workpieces.

At Polydec, we have invested in developing our own automatic systems, giving us full control of our production. These automatic machines use image analysis or mechanical probing to take measurements.

Our culture

We produce our automotive turned workpieces by streamlining each operation and by cutting costs in the supply chain. Our manufacturing process is fully controlled thanks to the application of quality control tools specific to the IATF 16949 standard:

  • analysis of customer requirements and needs
  • feasibility study before the manufacturing process begins (APQP, FMECA, Cmk, Cpk, MSA, etc.)
  • validation of initial samples with a type approval document (PPAP) bringing together all the quality documentation
  • series production controlled using statistical tools (SPC, control plans, etc.)
  • any complaints handled using the 8D method

Our daily work has been influenced by this approach to such an extent that it has become an integral part of our corporate culture.
